• Be diligent! Back to school is usually a very active time for lice.
  • Talk regularly about personal head space and why it’s important.
  • Look! Regularly check your children under full spectrum or outside lights to look for signs of early lice activity.
  • Comb! Run the Nit Free Terminator comb through your child’s hair every few days as an early indicator of eggs and nymphs which can be hard to detect with the eye.
  • Keep long hair up or tied back. Use lots of hair products (non-scented) that make the hair feel unnatural or hard ie. Hairspray, mousse, gel etc.
  • Tuck hats in the sleeves of coats or in book bags.
  • Be aware that teens and tweens are at in increased risk because of selfies. They are not immune.
  • Know what you are looking for. If you are looking for “white things” in the hair, you are probably looking at the wrong thing.
  • Talk to your kids about alternatives to hugging their friends such as high 5s.
  • Lastly, but more importantly, don’t be afraid to talk about it or ask for help. Most people have either been through it or will go through it.

If in doubt, contact us and we will check it out.
