Homemade Laundry Soap Recipe
One thing that happens when you get lice in your home is that you do a lot of laundry. Here is a recipe I started using when it came into my house the third time to save money:
- 1 box Borax
- 1 box Washing soda
2 bars of ivory or sunlight soap grated
- Oxiclean if desired (I use as a laundry booster)
- Unstoppables or other scent booster if desired.
Use 1 tbsp per load or 2 tbsp per excessively dirty load.
In my experience, many people believe that everything in the house needs to be laundered when you have lice in your home. Typically, everything that has been worn in the last 4 days should be laundered as well as all bedding, hats, jackets and other articles of clothing. Remember, generally lice cannot live off the head for more than 72 hours so focus your energy and resources on removing lice from the head. Use a head lice treatment that kills all the live lice and be diligent about getting all the eggs. Please feel free to share this recipe.
